DANCER/WORKSHOP APPLICATION INFORMATION PAGE for 2010 - Please read before sending applications Dancing on the Main (Fairgrounds) Stage is to CD unless live music hours are requested -- Live music hours:
Time limits: Short Solo 5 min, Solo/Duet 7 min, Short Troupe 7 min, Troupe 10 min. Dancing on the Main stage is from Noon to 9pm Saturday, Noon to 7pm Sunday. Signups accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, but cancellations and time shifts are common so don't hesitate to check the schedule and request a spot up to the time of the event. Only the first spot for one soloist or one troupe will be honored. Any multiple requests for one soloist or troupe will go on the waiting list. No dance confirmations are usually sent to the dancer. Please see the official schedule for your time: Check out the current DANCER LIST WHO IS WELCOME TO DANCE? YOU!! Every year someone asks me what you have to do to be allowed to dance at the event. If they are new, are they too new? If they are professional and dance regularly should they not take up the spaces that others might use? My answer: SHOW UP BREATHING! This is a community event and there are dancers from all over at all levels.
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT DANCE SPOT FEE:
VIDEO POLICY All performers will be required to sign a loss & injury release and will be videotaped for the Showcase archives (not for public use). An additional release may be available for those willing to release their performance for the promotion and support of the Showcase, but is not required as a condition of participation in the Showcase. We are no longer recording to VHS tapes. We WILL be producing a DVD of your performance available to you for $10. If you have pre-paid, one master copy of your performance on DVD will be produced and available for you to take following your performance. Master DVDs of Troupe Dance Spots will only be released to the named Director of the Troupe due to past problems. If you wish additional copies made at the time of the event they will be available directly from the video booth for $10 per copy. Please bring back the master DVD and allow an extra 30-60min for the duplication, or pre-order during dancer check-in. No one will be allowed to videotape any of this event without the permission of the participant involved and /or the express consent of Saqra because of past problems AND DANCER REQUEST. If you are caught taping without the permission of our videographer you will be required to leave the site at his discretion. LAST MINUTE REGISTRATION FOR WORKSHOPS Meant to get around to it and still want the pre-registered prices? Pay for your workshops by using www.Paypal.com! Pre-registered prices are available until 1 day before your workshop, but only if your payment is received.
SHOWING UP TO PAY THE DAY OF YOUR WORKSHOP MEANS AT-DOOR PRICES... EVEN IF YOU HAVE SENT IN THE FORM SAYING YOU WANT TO ATTEND. We want to keep the pre-reg prices available as long as possible for YOU so it gets a little complex. Thanks for your understanding! Having trouble with Paypal? Please email saqra@saqra.net and request a bill be sent! Bills will probably be sent at the end of each day (barring internet issues) and the time of your request is considered the time of your payment, so if we can't get it out before the workshop you will be considered paid by our volunteers and can finish the transaction when you receive the bill.
PERFORMER'S LETTER for 2010 - IF YOU ARE PERFORMING WE THINK YOU READ THIS Topics are as follows:
STAGE: The stage is 16'x20' and a 24" rise. Steps are on the back, left hand side, looking at the stage. Backdrop is very simple and lovely, supplied by the wonderful Ms Gaile Thorsted/Taheyya. Lighting is supplemented room lighting as usual -- this is a daytime festival and the lights have to be on full for the vending. DRESSING ROOM: Dressing room space should be plenty large this year, and there is a separate dressing room for women and men. Remember you are responsible for your own things when left in the dressing room. There will be a few mirrors available, too. MUSIC: Please be kind to our sound guy! Check your CDs on a regular CD player before bringing them for the show! You must choose to "close" a home burned CD when you are burning it or it will not be readable by anything but a computer. When burning a CD you do not want to use your computer to do anything else... not to surf the internet, listen to music, or check your email... or chances are your CD will skip. Please have ALL your show with the songs IN ORDER on ONE CD marked with your act name. If you ask us to skip around through multiple cuts on a CD, ONLY THE FIRST CUT WILL BE PLAYED.. or worse yet who KNOWS what will actually be played... and do not give the music people dirty looks if you didn't follow this request and something goes very wrong. SOLOS HAVE A MAX TIME OF 7 MIN. TROUPES HAVE A MAX TIME OF 10 MIN. The camera shows real time and the sound man WILL fade you. CHECK-IN: Please check in at the Dancer Check-In table at least 1 hour before your performance time. At the 1 hour mark we start getting nervous and looking at the waiting list and at 45 minutes we give a last call for you and a call for the first dancer on the backup list. Also be aware that if you choose to dress elsewhere you may still want to check in in the dressing room, as there will be a dressing room dancer-wrangler looking for you about 3 dancers before your performance to let you know how close we are on schedule. EVENT ENTRANCE TIMES: See http://www.bellydanceshowcase.com/aprshowcase.html CANCELING your dance spot? Please let us know immediately since we always have a waiting list. |
